Friday 13th August 2021:
We'd recommend aiming to arrive by 7pm so you can join us for dinner. We'll cook a pasta meal to eat at around 7.30pm - a great way to get to know your new friends and to have a chat about the challenge ahead. The accommodation is very modern and has excellent views to the gorgeous Ribblehead Viaduct, making a great spot for a sun-downer.
Saturday 14th August 2021:
Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge
The Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge is a 24 mile circular walking route within the spectacular Yorkshire Dales National Park. The route includes Yorkshire's 3 highest peaks;
Pen-y-ghent (694m/2,227ft); and
The 'Challenge' is to complete the route within 12 hours.
We provide Mountain Leaders and support (water and snack resupply).
This hike is achievable for almost anyone that is prepared to put in some preparation work over the summer to build up to this challenge, but you should not underestimate it, it is a challenging day out. We highly recommend you undertake a number of day hikes prior to the event. If you are prepared, this is a beautiful, social and sometimes boggy event for someone looking to challenge themselves in 2021!
We have beautifully converted barn accommodation on the route, with stunning views of the Ribblehead Viaduct, where we'll stay on the Friday and Saturday nights. This means that you won't have to worry about any logistics on the day of the event, and gives us somewhere comfortable to return to after conquering the peaks!
Sunday 15th August 2021:
After a hard day's trekking on Sunday, we'll recover like professionals with a visit to the nearby Wensleydale Creamery. Wallace and Gromit's favourite cheese is Wensleydale, and you'll get to find why out for yourself! We'll enjoy a cheese making demonstration, visit the cheese museum and we'll get to sample around 20 different cheeses, all made on site. There's also various ice creams you can enjoy from the creamery, as well as some local craft beers to celebrate your Grand Day Out. We'll end the weekend with a Sunday Carvery (vegetarian options available) before the weekend officially ends. However, as we're in the stunning market town of Hawes, I would highly recommend a wander around (or even a walk if you're up to it!) before making your way home for a well earned rest after an amazing weekend of hiking, cheese and new friends!
Please note that, whilst we aim to provide the activities listed above, occasionally they may be subject to change at short notice due to factors such as weather conditions and the abilities of the group.
