ABOUT ADVENTURE BREAKS

Adventure Breaks are solo-friendly outdoor events. They are very social events. All of our customers are adults; most are in their 30s-50s. Our events are typically weekend events in and around the Lake District, or week-long events in Scotland. We have a loyal customer base, and we have big plans for the future. Chris Bone is the founder of Adventure Breaks. He previously working in finance and investment, and has a passion for both business and the outdoors. Adventure Breaks started trading in 2019 as a sole-enterprise business, and is now a fast-growing Limited company. Adventure Breaks is a trading name of Adventure Breaks Group Limited. THE ROLES

We are currently looking for two self-motivated outdoor instructors to run events on a self-employed basis as ‘Adventure Leaders’. Our events are generally in the Lake District (1-3 day events) and Scotland (5-7 day events). The primary events you would be running are:

  • camping weekends in the Lake District; and

  • week-long canoe-camping events in Scotland.

 

These events are typically small groups of around 5 guests. The events are not highly technical. A primary function of your role is to ‘host’ the guests. This includes ensuring everyone is happy and feeling confident, interacting well as part of the group, and that the event run smoothly even if things don’t always go to plan. You will generally be using the same equipment as guests, showing them what to do and camping with them when they camp. Many of our guests join multiple adventures with us, allowing you to create friendships and to build up mutual trust. As mentioned above, most guests are in their 30s-50s. Being able to build up rapport is important. There will also be opportunities to get involved in other events, such as hiking the Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge and leading West Highland Way events.

 

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are most interested in understanding any value-add beyond technical qualifications that you may be able to bring to Adventure Breaks events. Specifically, a suitable candidate will be:

  • Reliable and dependable. This is essential.

  • A problem solver. Things don’t always go to plan.

  • Friendly and sociable. Able to host guests, making them feel welcome, and putting them at ease.

  • Business minded. Able to soft-sell with recommendations and suggestions.

 

Whilst not essential, it may also be beneficial if you have a vehicle with a towbar, and would be comfortable towing a canoe trailer.

We provide a fun and friendly working environment. Adventure Breaks are social events. You get to meet friendly adults from all over the UK that are keen to explore the outdoors. We believe the pay we offer is above average, and in addition, you can earn regular performance related bonuses.
