Windermere Weekend Overview
Windermere Weekend is a social, fun summer event with activities on and around Lake Windermere - England's largest lake.
This adventure-packed weekend features giant stand-up paddle boarding - each board takes up to 8 adults each, and we've got two of them to play on. We'll also take a hike up 'Gummer's How'; a short but sharp hill walk with very rewarding view from the top that look out across Windermere and the Lake District fells (hills).
Saturday evening will be social; including dining at a beautiful pub in the village of Bowness-on-Windermere and on Sunday we'll be back into the activities with some raft building and a few challenges on a ropes-course.
We have modern lake-side accommodation which will be an excellent base for the weekend. All Adventure Breaks are solo-friendly, meaning the weekend will be a great way to meet new people. On this occasion we start the weekend with a welcome meal and drink in a tipi on the shore of Windermere on the Friday evening, a great setting to get to know the other guests.
All in all this is a social, fun summer weekend, giving you the chance to try some new activities, make some new friends and discover some of the Lake District's more beautiful spots.

Windermere & Tower Wood
At over 10 miles long, Windermere in the Lake District is the largest natural lake in England. Tower Wood on the shores of the Lake will be our home for the weekend - it has 11 acres of privately owned land as well as modern accommodation and facilities including a boathouse. This means that we can spend the weekend playing on and around the lake with professional instructors to help and guide us.
- Accommodation for two nights is provided. Most of the rooms are twin rooms with ensuite. There is also a larger room with 6 beds if you are feeling sociable, or if you prefer there are a limited number of single room upgrades available.
- All activities are included, as well as any specialist equipment (for example paddles, boards, buoyancy aids for paddle boarding etc).
- Four meals are included (2x breakfasts, 1x lunch, 1x evening meal plus a welcome drink).
- Travel whilst at the event is included.
- A taxi to and from Bowness is included for the pub meal on Saturday evening.
Friday - 5th June 2020:
Tipple in the Tipi - Arrive in the evening and join us in the tipi for a few drinks around the fire pit.
Saturday - 6th June 2020:
Paddle Boards XL - We kick the day off with two huge 'XL' paddle boards, each 17ft long, that can take up to 8 people! It's not a race...but there are two of them!
Hike - After lunch we'll take a hike up a local hill with stunning views along the lake below us.
Sunday - 7th June 2020:
Raft Building - A change to get back out onto (or into!?) the lake with this team activity. What floats your boat?
Ropes Course - Challenge yourself on a ropes course, including a 'Sky Pole' - you'll find out when you get there!
The weekend ends at lunchtime on Sunday, giving you enough time to travel home. Your are welcome to join us for some food in Bowness if you wish before starting your journey home.
Please note that, whilst we intend to provide the activities listed above, occasionally they may be subject to change at short notice due to factors such as weather conditions and the abilities of any particular group.
The accommodation at Tower Wood is modern, having been built in 2015. The rooms that we will occupy are twin rooms with ensuite. If you would prefer not to share you can upgrade here.
There is also a 'living room' area with seating and a 'brew' area (ie not a full kitchen with hob but we will have access to a kettle, toaster and microwave for tea, coffee and toast). Bedding and pillows are provided. Please bring a towel with you. Some photos of the accommodation at the bottom of this page.
