Edie is in her eighties when her controlling husband dies. She decides to take an adventure that her father planned for them over 30 years prior; to climb Mount Suilven in Scotland.
She leaves a message for her daughter and heads for the hills. Along the way, she hires young camping shop owner Jonny (Kevin Guthrie) to be her guide. Despite the generational differences, Jonny encourages Edie to fulfill her dream.
At 731m Suilven is far from the highest hill in the UK; Ben Nevis is nearly twice its height at 1,345m and two of the three hills we'll tackle on the Yorkshire 3 Peaks (and Cheese) Challenge in August are higher. However it is iconic; made up of two hills with a 'gully' with a narrow path across giving access to the second. I tackled this with 6 friends around 8 years ago; there were ferocious winds, resulting in most of us crawling on our hands and knees across the divide to avoid being blown down one side or the other!
This film is a nice watch for a Sunday evening. It's not action-packed, but it's a pleasant story with some great shots of beautiful scenery. Recommended for a lazy evening and to show you that you're never too old to get out and challenge yourself if you are determined enough!
