FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
WHAT DO YOU MEAN BY 'SOLO-FRIENDLY'?
The majority of our guests book on the the event by themselves. Every Adventure Break has a host, and they will create a Whatsapp group that you will be invited to join prior to the event. Upon arrival the host will meet you and introduce you to other guests. We play outdoors together during the day and eat as a group in the evenings. By the end of the event we would expect you to have met lots of new people and made lots of new friends. Book for the adventures, come back for the friendships!
ARE YOU A DATING COMPANY?
No. We are 'solo-friendly' which we consider to be quite different. For more about what 'solo-friendly means to us and how we seek to cater for solo adventurers, please see the section at the top of this page.
CAN I BRING A FRIEND ON AN EVENT?
Yes. We would actively encourage you too – you can both save a bit of money by doing so! If you’re buying more than one ticket in a single transaction, you can enter code ‘Friends10’ for 10% off the order value. Please note that this offer cannot typically be used in conjunction with any other discount or offer.
ARE COUPLES WELCOME?
Yes. Couples are very welcome to attend our events, we simple request that that you are open to meeting new people and to participating with the wider group. Please also be aware that accommodation is arranged with solo participants in mind. For example, depending on the event, this may mean single beds in a shared room rather than private rooms. If you are buying more than one ticket remember you can use the 'Friends10' discount code mentioned above.
AM I FIT ENOUGH?
You shouldn't need to be mega-fit to attend an Adventure Break; activities are normally selected to be fun group experiences rather than to test you to your physical limits! For example, if you're of average fitness and you've worried about canoeing because you've not canoed before; don't be, most others won't have and you can't be left behind as you're in the same boat! If you're worried because you've never walked more than 2 miles before and you want to sign up for a 25 mile hill-walk, it would be sensible to get some practice walks in before hand so that you're confident that you'll be up for the challenge. If you're unsure, please get in touch and we can discuss it with you.
DO I NEED TO BE EXPERIENCED?
You do not normally need prior experience or an activity before doing it; generally everyone else will also be participating for the first time also and we will have a professional instructor showing you the ropes and to guide you through.
WHAT EQUIPMENT OR CLOTHING DO I NEED?
As a rule, any specialist equipment required for an activity will be provided. You will generally need to bring sensible clothing and footwear for your event. For example:
- if you're canoeing, a canoe, paddles, flotation jacket and helmet will be provided;
- if you're hiking in winter, you would be advised to bring sensible footwear such as walking boots, waterproofs, and layered clothing.
If you are unsure about what you will need with you or what to bring, please get in touch, we're here to help.
HOW OFTEN DO WE HOST EVENTS?
Currently we are aiming to put on an event a month except December when people are generally already busy with parties and Christmas. You can subscribe to our mailing list at the bottom of this page for news of new events and offers.
