WILD CAMPING

FOR BEGINNERS,

SCOTLAND

Includes brand new camping gear for you to use and keep!

Itinerary

Day One

We'll meet in Callandar at midday and eat lunch together as a group. After lunch, we'll show you how to pack your rucksack efficiently with brand new camping gear that you'll receive as part of the event. We'll take a relatively gentle walk (1.5 - 2 hours) and give you a demonstration on how to use your new camping equipment.

As the evening draws in it's over for you to practice setting up your own tent and camp, with help and guidance along the way. We'll show you how to use your new stoves for a satisfying evening meal. After an evening sharing stories, watching the sunset and star-gazing, you can use your new headtorch to find your way into your cosy sleeping bag - all provided as part of your camping bundle.

Day Two
Congratulations on your first night wild camping! You should wake up feeling refreshed and revitalised after all that clean air! After breakfast we'll break camp (pack up!) and enjoy a beautiful walk through the stunning scenery of the National Park.
We'll explain some of the basic 'Leave no Trace' principles and give you hints and tips for a better camping experience over the course of the weekend. There will be an option to learn and practice some basic map reading and navigation skills and to chat to your new camp-mates. We'll let you select your particular camping spot based on the hints and tips you've picked up so far - by now you'll be getting very familiar and comfortable with your new gear and how to use it. This will be our second night 'under canvas' and we should be in for another enjoyable evening before heading for home the next day.

Day Three

After breaking camp again we'll head back to Callandar for lunch together and to celebrate our successes. The weekend ends after lunch, giving you plenty of time to travel home after a satisfying weekend in the countryside for a well earned pizza and movie at home on the sofa!

Frequently Asked Questions
Solo-friendly - The majority of our guests attend by themselves and we will make you feel welcome. We start the weekend with a meal together at the pub and the weekend is a great way to make new friends. An Adventure Breaks host will meet you when you arrive, introduce you to other guests and ensuring that everyone is enjoying themselves throughout the event.

Equipment - you will be provided with all the essential camping equipment required for this trip for you to keep. You will need to bring sensible outdoor clothing - we will send you more information on this but broadly it includes some sturdy footwear such as hiking boots, a waterproof jacket and a rucksack to put your kit in (around 65-75 litre pack size is ideal - you can order one here if you'd like us to bring one for you)

Experience - you do not need prior camping experience; that's what this event is all about. It would be an advantage to do one or two day trips in the weeks prior to the event such as going out for a local walk for the day.
